I had used another Neutrogena acne product under the oil-free label. It took away the oil but left my face sore and red, sometimes for hours. This "Redness Soothing" product really works. It stings a little when put on, but after it's washed off, it has a cool feeling due to the aloe and there is no redness. I'm so much happier. It keeps away a lot of breakouts (haven't had a breakout since I've used it) and definitely clears up redness (When I first started using it, it didn't seem to affect redness by a significant amount, but I just used it an hour or two ago on a large red slightly itchy area and now it's back to my normal skin color!). I am almost 30 years old, and over the last 16 years I have tried ProActive, Origins, Clinique, Olay, AcneFree, (even other Neutrogena face washes)etc, and nothing had stopped pimples from occasionally forming nor consistantly soothed the redness on my face. I tried this product just because I have always been willing to try anything, in the hopes that "just maybe." From the first time I started using it I have been waiting to break out or be really rosy, but I have had almost no pimples and the redness is so under control that I no longer wear foundation.
